Spa man

I first settled here in back in the Iron Age around 200 years BC and things were very different then.

There were no tents, no gas or electricity, no telephones, no Simon Cowell, no schools, no money, no i-pods, no Waitrose, but we did have running water, a few bows and arrows, three cows, some chickens and a tremendous amount of white crystalised matter which collected around the edge of a couple of natural springs.

During the cold winter we noticed that the snow only settled for a short while on the ground where the white crystals lay, and I just couldn’t resist tasting it… slightly bitter at first, but in small doses proved tolerable. I decided to collect and store it in some wooden pots I’d made.

On one occasion I recall accidentally dropping a piece of chicken in one of the pots while I was helping prepare a meal and for some reason got distracted. It was about a week later when I retrieved the raw meat and to my surprise it looked as fresh as the day it fell in! So, I cooked it…and the rest as you can imagine is history!

If you think that was amazing, just think how astounded I was having a swim in the adjacent pool…I actually found it so easy to float in it……..and furthermore I felt absolutely wonderful when I came out, no aches, no pains, completely invigorated!

The first person in our group to discover its wonderful properties was a lovely woman called Briney and from then on we called it Briney’s Bath, which I think it is called today, or something similar!
