Angelique's
Restaurant at the Chateau Irnpney (01905 774411)
Lunch
at Angelique’s based on a fixed three course menu at £15.75
approx is excellent value. There are about five choices for the
first and second courses and a sweet trolley with plenty of choices
for pudding.
The
main course choices included veal, lamb and duck with at least five
vegetables to choose from all cooked to perfection. The house wine
was from £10 per bottle. There is of course an A La Carte
menu available and a full wine list. The meal in the evening would
be £25 per head but would still represent good value. The
Chateau is an impressive venue and the restaurant is pleasantly
decorated. The service was excellent.

Bridges
Restaurant, Hindlip (01905 757117)
Renowned
as one of the cheapest carvery meals around. The food is good and
plenty of it, with wine available if required. If a carvery lunch
or evening meal is what you want we can recommend this restaurant.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. |

Browns
Restaurant, Worcester
By
the side of the River Severn this restaurant is expensive at £37.50
for a five course meal, on a fixed menu basis plus wine. On the
other hand the food is very good with plenty of choice and the service
is friendly and efficient. The wines are a few pounds more expensive
than some other places but if you want a meal for a special occasion
this is a good place to go. A view from the restaurant overlooking
the bridge in Worcester with River Severn running underneath adds
to the evening so get a table with a view, if you can. |

Very
Good - A nice place to eat with tasty food at a very reasonable
price. The staff are very friendly and attentive. |

Cross
Keys, Ombersley (01905 620588)
Excellent
- Really good food and a good menu. Plenty of fish dishes, but there
is meat as well. The Lamb Chump is good but then it is all good.
Excellent value for money with friendly service. I did not taste
the wines; I got stuck on the Guinness. I will have to try them
next time. One of our reviewers Frank
says he has never had a bad meal here, especially under the present
management. |

Dilshad
Tandoori Balti Restaurant, High Street (01905 773297)
Very
Good - Expanded from a Take-away (although it still does take-away
meals) it does Balti and Indian meals at very reasonable prices.
Based on the price the food is good. Sometimes the portions could
be larger, but if you are having rice or Naan bread you will end
up full. At the price it is very good value and the staff are very
friendly. Unfortunately Gill and her husband had a bad meal here
and have complained to Spa Man which has affected our rating (reduced
to two Spa Men). |

Epic
Bar Brasserie, Bromsgrove (01527
871929)
We
do not often go outside Droitwich Spa for our reviews but occasionally
suggest an out of town treat. Epic at Bromsgrove is not far but
it is top class. The food is 5 Spa Men standard and the service
is efficient and friendly. There is a good wine list including reasonably
priced wines. The restaurant, which used to be the Ewe and Lamb
pub, has been sympathetically redecorated in a modern style and
the atmosphere on the night we went was excellent. It is a little
dearer than some other restaurants but very good value for the quality
of the meal. It is very popular so you will need to book. |

The
Firs Inn, Trench Lane, Dunhampstead, near Droitwich Spa.
(01905 774094)
The
Firs Inn in the Worcestershire country side at Dunhampstead is an
attractive place to eat. It has a conservatory style restaurant
attached to the inn and friendly staff providing an efficient service.
The food has always been good here but in the past the service has
been slow, possibly because it is very popular, and this has put
several people I know off going. When four of us went the service
was very prompt and the cross section of food selected was excellent.
The
food is reasonably priced and good quality wines can be purchased
by the glass. The sweets were particularly delicious.
I am
only awarding this establishments four Spa Men on the basis of the
reported slow service in the past but for the quality of food at
the price it is first class. |

Jason's
Carvery at Chateau Impney (01905 774411)
Very
Good - The Chateau as a venue is that little bit special. The Carvery
is good value and as the name suggests it is mainly carved hot meats
with all the trimmings. The staff are friendly making it good place
for larger parties, to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, at
a reasonable cost. Richard took a party for his son's 18th birthday
and gave it a good report. |

Platts
Restaurant - The Raven hotel (01905 772224)
Unfortunately
I have not eaten in Platts recently but in private rooms in the
hotel at functions. The hotel has a number of function rooms but
the food comes from the same kitchens so my conclusion is that if
the food, wines and service are good at functions it will be good
in the main restaurant. In fact it has been very good and we all
know when serving a large number of people at a function it is more
difficult to maintain standards. The hotel is 4 star and the food
lives up to this reputation. It is not always as expensive as you
would expect especially at the functions I have attended. I am only
giving this a rating of four Spa Men only because I have not actually
eaten in the main restaurant. So let me know what you think? |

Raj
Tandoori Restaurant, Queen Street (01905 770051)
Very
Good - This restaurant is in an old building with plenty of character
and sloping floors no doubt due to the salt works, which used to
be close bye in this part of town. A good value for money meal.

Lotus
House, Ombersley Street (01905 770079)
Very
Good - This Licensed Chinese Restaurant has been established many
years and provides a consistently good quality meal. There is also
a take-away service. For a meal in it is a little more expensive
than some other Chinese restaurants but it is worth it. I have not
tried the wines for some time but last time I did they were perfectly
acceptable. |

The
Navigation Inn, Hanbury Road, Stoke Prior (01527 870194)
Good
- Good basic pub food at a reasonable price. Star Man has not tried
"Manuel's" authentic Spanish Paella but the pub is very
full on Paella nights, so book up early. |

Rossini's
Restaurant (01905 794799)
This
is a first class restaurant. Although positioned on the main Worcester
Road in Droitwich Spa this belies the tranquillity to be found inside.
The staff were friendly and efficient. Our food was excellent chosen
from the days menu with 2 courses from about £14 and 3 courses
£18. An a la Carte menu is available but the daily menu provides
plenty of choice. After the first course of lobster soups and an
avocado, prawn and smoked salmon salad we had a fish main course
for some of our party and medallions of beef for others. These were
very well presented on the plate and tasted delicious.
There
is a choice of very attractive and well-presented sweets. Bread
and butter pudding being my favourite with cream or ice-cream (it's
a shame there was no custard choice).
A full
wine list offers wines from about £13 a bottle upwards. House
wine in a half litre carafe was available for £6.80.
The above prices may be subject to change. |

St
Andrews House Hotel (01905 779677)
Good
- Good basic food and not expensive. The hotel has a well-proportioned
restaurant with a Table d'hote menu and traditional Sunday Lunch
on offer. Very suitable for parties and celebrations, as well as
a normal meal. |

Spice
Fusion (01905 794188 or 795446)
This is a report from one of our correspondents as I
have not been there myself yet:
This is the newly refurbished Indian restaurant, formerly
known as The Mohgul Tandoori
The restaurant is nicely decorated and we particularly
liked the Rennie Macintosh style lights on the wall!
The food was really good, beautifully presented and
politely served. I order a dish and asked for it to be
VERY mild - it was exactly as I liked.
We ordered a bottle of house red, which was more than
acceptable.
Desserts - were the usual pre-packed iced creams - tasty
but expensive.
All in all the meal
was excellent and two three course meals with wine
totaled £45; so good value as well. |

Thatch
Restaurant, Webbs of Wychbold (01905 961412)
Review:
- This is a cafeteria but really well done in the pleasant surroundings
of this popular garden centre. It is only open during the day and
serves snacks and meals. Wine is available by small bottles for
one or full sized bottles. Serves the best Cappuccinos in town |

The
Three Pears (Beefeater)
Review:
- The surroundings may detract but it is ideal for people looking
for overnight accommodation and a reasonably priced Beefeater type
meal. Besides the expected steaks however there is variety provided
with starters such as spicy prawns and main courses such as Turkish
Lamb and fish dishes.
The
décor inside may not be to everyone’s taste but the
food is well cooked, reasonable in price and the staff are helpful
and friendly. They also have a Family Card and Emerald Card Scheme
(for over 55s), which can give further reductions on the cost of
meals.
