SALT ROCK CAFÉ, Gurneys Lane

This café was visited by one of our reviewers who said “We enjoyed the best cappuccino we have had outside Italy and a lovely fresh hot tea cake. Prices were extremely reasonable.”

Check the web site www.saltrockcafe.co.uk and build yourself a virtual sandwich.

SPATS, High Street

Very Good - A homely atmosphere with good food. A bit restricted for space but has a patio at the back for sunny days. Reasonable prices.

SPIDERS WINE BAR, Victoria Square (01905 776633)

Spiders Wine Bar is open 7 days a week serving wine and spirits, coffee and meals.
We carried out our review at lunch time, when it was relatively quiet. They have varied selection of meals from snack type meals to full steak and chicken meals and other meals including Indian type meals. The staff were very pleasant. They have music playing all the time and the décor is pleasant, but when it is quiet there some lack of atmosphere. This is probably quite different in the evening when the wine and cocktails are flowing (the names of the cocktails should be mentioned in a hushed voice).
