Wychavon Way – Walk the Wychavon Way and see some of the best countryside in England. The Wychavon Way is 42 miles long and there is a six mile stretch close to Droitwich Spa.

Starting at Ombersley (three miles from Droitwich Spa) you go left by Stiles Farm, through Uphampton and down towards Holt Fleet, left along the River Severn, diverting through Hawford Wood to Chatley, rejoining the Wychavon Way at Gardner’s Grove and continuing back to to Ombersley Church.

There are also other walks known as the North Worcestershire Path, the Worcestershire Way, the Elgar Route, the Severn Way and the Illey Way.

Magnificent mosaic interior made from millions of Italian glass tiles depicting the life of St Richard of Droitwich, Bishop of Chichester.

Hanbury and Hanbury Hall (National Trust) > Hanbury is reputed to be Ambridge of the Archers radio programme fame. Several Archers weddings have taken place at Hanbury ChurchHanbury Parish Church with a tape of its bells often being featured.

Hanbury Hall is a William and Mary red brick house, built in 1701. It houses the Watney  Collection of porcelain.

Jinney Ring Craft Centre > On the Hanbury Road is the Jinney Ring Craft Centre with craft workshops, gift shop, café and restaurant. Open Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am – 5pm & Sunday 11.30am – 5.30pm. Tel (01527) 821272.
Avoncroft Museum of  Building, Nr Bromsgrove > Buildings through the ages. A fascinating collection of historic buildings visited by Prince Phillip in early 2001. Tel (01527) 831886.
Hartlebury Castle, Hartlebury > The seat of the Bishops of Worcester. There is also a County Museum. Tel (01299) 250416
Whitly Court > (English Heritage) & St Michael’s Church, Great Whitly.
Ancient grounds and ruins of the home of The Earl of Dudley.

There is much to see and do on a day out by the river in Worcester including cruises up and down the River Seven.

Worcester Cathedral Worcester cathedral was built in 1084. King John (Magna Carter) and Prince Arthur (Eldest brother of Henry V111) are buried there. Tel (01905) 28854.

Royal Worcester one of the most famous makers of porcelain in the world has a visitors centre with guide tours 7 days a week.

The Elgar Birthplace Museum,

On the way out of Worcester towards Droitwich Spa on the A44 is the cottage in which the great composer the late Sir Edward Elgar was born. It houses manuscripts, photographs and a large range of memorabilia Tel (01905) 333224.
There is also an Elgar route (trail) around Worcestershire.

There are many more attractions around Stratford Upon Avon and Warwick are easily accessible and Birmingham is a little over 20 miles away.
Visit Malvern and the Malvern Hills or the vale of Evesham, particularly in apple blossom time. The Cotswolds are close and a day trip to London is very enjoyable.
In Droitwich Spa you are in the Middle of everything from the point of view of attractions and travel.
