Health and fitness is taken seriously in Droitwich Spa as befits a spa town.

There are three general practices of Doctors in the town, three Dental practices and three Chemists and/or Pharmacies.

There is also the private hospital with National Health hospitals nearby in Worcester, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Redditch.

Droitwich Spa Hospital

The hospital opened in 1985 and is part of BMI Healthcare, a leading provider of health services throughout the United Kingdom. Equipped with the latest technology it attracts over 100 Consultants who are supported by a team of Resident Medical Officers.

There is 24 hour availability of medical staff and High dependency Unit facilities. The hospital undertakes a wide range of procedures from routine investigations to complex surgery. Patients are normally referred to a Consultant by their General practitioner.

The hospital also offers a range of diagnostic examination using Diagnostic Imaging, Fertility Services, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Pathology and Health Screening.

Droitwich Knee Clinic

The Droitwich Knee Clinic was established in 1988 as a Specialist Centre for the diagnosis and treatment of knee disorders, under the directorship of Mr Angus Strover FRCS and has become internationally renowned.

They deal with a variety of problems - sports injuries (recent injuries or aggravation of existing problems), hip and knee replacements and shoulder disorders.

A Service for Deaf Adults

A service for deaf adults is being provided by The Broad Group where deaf adults can have their own homes and can learn the skills necessary to live independently.

Mission Statement

To provide a service to deaf adults (with additional needs) who want to live independently, this service will educate and enable them to reach their full potential and ideal of living within their own home. The service has a dual functioning facility;

Upstairs are four individual self contained apartments, in which residents can experience independent living, with the knowledge of security and support of outreach staff downstairs 24hrs a day.
Downstairs is a homely educational setting in which specialised trained staff provide training and support to residents and members of the Broad Group teaching life skills such as citizenship, healthy eating and cooking, personal safety, rights and responsibilities, emotional well being, socialisation techniques, transport training, etc.

Clients are encouraged to form social networks of their own and enabled to access local facilities in order to promote their inclusion and build their confidence within society.

Clients of this service will be able to develop skills necessary for independent living over a period of time appropriate for the individual, when the client feels confident enough and has learnt basic life and safety skills they can be supported to look for their own flat within the local community with the option to have ongoing support from outreach staff.
